2/21/2002: Guest Lecturer: On March 14th, we will have Charlie Perkins as a guest speaker. He is a senior manager of database administrators at Fidelity in Boston. He will be talking about DBMS practices at Fidelity. This will be a "view from the trenches", so bring all your questions. He will begin at 2PM and talk until he runs out of questions, probably around 4PM.
2/9/2002: Send an email to om_p at mit.edu if you want to be included in the course mailing list 6.893@mit.edu. The course mailing list will be an official means of communication between the students and the instructor.
2/8/2002: The text Readings in Database Systems will probably be at Quantum by Thursday, February 14. Students might want to drop into the store or simply email june@quantumbk.com to reserve a copy of the book if they want it. That way, as soon as the books arrive, Quantum can email them individually and they will have a couple of days to come in and pick it up.
