The Pomo Tribe

The Pomo Tribe lived near the Red Wood Forest and Mountains. It was mild all year long. The type of house they lived in were pomo huts made of bark.

They ate shell fish, deer, elk, rabbit and sea lions. The way they found their food was to pick from trees, hunt and fish. Men and women made beautiful woven baskets. They wore shells and feathers. They liked to wear necklaces made of shells, beads and stones. They had traditions and special Pomo medicines. There were 72 small tribes.

Now, they are living in towns and cities. Two of the towns are Uktha and Santa Rosa.
