Welcome to MIT and to the seminar. I am sending this right away to test whether I got all your e-mail addresses correct.
Your next assignment, due September 4, is to surf the Web and nominate a specific page as being particularly ugly, or particularly poorly suited for its intended purpose. You might look for unpleasant layouts, use of annoying blinking text, continually refreshed animations you can't disable, features that distract rather than inform, colors that make text either unreadable or jarring, or just plain ugly material.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday, September 10, not in the usual place, but rather in room E53-220, which is a computer classroom. The time will also be different, namely 3:30 - 5:00 PM. At that meeting you will all write an HTML page and mount it in our private location where we can all see it but it will not be publicly available.
Our normal meetings will be every Tuesday, 3:00 - 4:30 PM, in the Jackson Room, 38-466. The first such normal meeting will be Tuesday, September 17.
