Assignment #3, Due Sept. 30

Greetings:

Just a friendly reminder about the next assignment due at the next meeting of the seminar. The group has broken down into three subgroups to focus on review of HTML, content of the course web page, and graphical design of the course web page. The output of this system should be a set of webpages that fulfill the requirement for the audience viewing the 6a26 homepage, additionally there is the requirement that it preforms it function well and is not "ugly".

Specifically we need to define the audience of the course page? Is it just us, is it the world, is it some prefrosh out in Oklahoma who wants to see what MIT offers in term of freshman advising, is it a combination of all these factors. What do we want on our web pages based on the privacy issues we discussed in class, do you want that link to "people" or leave it hidden. Do we want to try to impliment security, if so how much security. These are questions that those people in the content group should mainly focus on.

Those focusing on graphical design must be in communication with those doing content so you know what constraints you need to work with. But there are many different ways of implementing the same content, some are neat, others are just plain ugly. It is your responcibity to prevent the ugly from happening to our site.

Those working with me on HTML will need to continue working on there home pages or a page for a subject they are interested in. We are not requiring personal homepages in this course.

Please place your code in /mit/6a26/www/people/{your group directory} as well as any suplimental files kept on a local disk such as images (gif, jpg, ect).

Should you need assistance please do not hesitate to contact me or one of the instructors.
