- There will be no lab hours this week. You may return your Red Box at lecture on Wednesday if you haven't already.
- I will be out of town from Wed evening through Friday of this week,so my office hours on Thursday are canceled. However I will have special office hours on both Saturday Dec 14 and Sunday Dec 15 from2-3 pm, in 4-338A. Please stop by if you have any questions!
- The final CyberTutor assignments are for review only. There are also some suggested review problems from the text (with answers inthe back) on the web, and a practice final with solutions.
- There will be an optional final review session on Saturday, December 14, 4-6 pm in room 2-190 (note different place).
- The final exam will be Monday, Dec 16 at 9-12 am in 10-250. Material from the whole semester will be covered, although it will be weighted somewhat towards later material. It will be the usual deal: you mayhave a one page, one side cheat sheet; calculators are allowed but you may not use programming functions.
- Course evaluation will be on Monday Dec 9.
- The syllabus for this coming week will be changed slightly. Instead ofdoing a brief intro to special relativity, I will finish covering the H atom and spend the rest of the time on review. For those of you disappointed that we won't be covering relativity, I strongly recommend 8.20 "Introduction to Special Relativity", taught by Professor Jaffe during IAP. This is designed for students with an 8.01 or equivalent background, and "aimed at all of you who have always wanted to know how Einstein's theory of space and time revolutionized the way thatwe understand the world".
- Please read the Red Box Return Policy.
- Tutoring is now available! Times and places:
- Sunday 8-10 pm in 8-119
- Tuesday 1-2 pm in 4-338
- Friday 3-5 pm in 4-336
Please get help if you need it! You can sign up in the Physics Education Office 4-352. - I've been informed by the CyberTutor people that there is a technical problem with using CyberTutor with Mozilla on Athena. If you have trouble doing a curve grader or "diagram" problem with Mozilla, then please try it using Netscape instead.
- The final exam schedule has been announced: the 8.01X final will be on December 16, 9 am to 12 noon, in 10-250.
- Please don't forget: don't throw away stuff from your Red Box. You need to return it with essentially everything in it at the end of the semester in order to get your grade.
- Office hours of instructors are now listed in the Staff section. You can go to any instructor's office hours, not just your own recitation instructor's.
