Information on Hour Test #3
When & Where:
The third Hour Test will be held on Friday, April 27
during regular 8.02 lecture hours.
For students whose last names begins with:
A - K in Walker (3rd floor), Room 50-340.
Walker Memorial is located on East Campus.
Please enter from the river side (Memorial Drive).
L - Z in Room 26-100.
Please take the test at your assigned lecture hour.
Test Content:
There will again be 4 problems: three analytical problems and one
short ``concept question'' type.
The material covered includes the entire course through Ch. 39 in text,
but with substantial emphasis on material since the
last test (Assignments 7
- 11A). Earlier material may be needed in addressing problems on current
material. There will be no problems making use of the H (magnetic
strength) vector nor of ``boundary conditions''. Please note that Assmt. 10
consists of review problems, some of which pertain to the prime material
for this test.

Lenz's law
Motional EMF
Self and mutual inductance
NEW 20 Apr:
LR Circuit
Energy content in inductor and energy density in B
NEW 20 Apr:
Magnetic dipole and magnetic moment
Three kinds of magnetism (qualitative only)
Free LC and LCR oscillations
Driven RCL circuit including resonance, phase shifts, power
As usual, you are responsible for basic content of lecture
demonstrations.
It is a closed book test.
You may not use a calculator.
You are not allowed to bring any notes.
Useful mathematical/physical relations will be provided with the test.
