Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge
2003 Semifinal Winners

We would like to congratulate all of the participants in the Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge, sponsored by the journal Science and the National Science Foundation (NSF). This was the first year of this international competition, and we received nearly 300 entries from the US and abroad. All of the entries we received were exceptional, and made the selection process very difficult.

Listed here are the 30 semifinalist winners. Each category, photography, illustration and multi-media, had ten semifinalist winners. The finalist winners will be announced in the journal's September 12th issue as well as in Science on Line.

The journal Science and NSF are currently making plans to host the Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge for 2004. Once again, thanks to everyone for the time and effort to participate and we look forward to your participation in next year's competition.
