Mother Caroline Academy, 2009

Zhe Lu and Pam Lundin (Fu Group) teach students about acids and bases

In this demonstration, a natural acid-base indicator is extracted from red cabbage and used to test whether common household items are acids or bases.

Marlborough High School, 2003
A typical show includes several polymer-related demonstrations. Show above is a student helping out with the “Slime” demonstration which is used to illustrate the concept of polymer cross-linking.

Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School Community Science Fair, 2003

The concepts of fluorescence, phosphorescence, and chemiluminscence are discussed in the “Chemistry and Light” portion of the show. Above, an ultraviolet light is shined on a jar of water containing fluorescein, resulting in fluorescence.

Marlborough High School, 2003; Whitman Hanson Regional High School, 2003

Our show concludes with a discussion of temperature - a seemingly uneventful topic until the volunteers begin to ‘play’ with dry ice and liquid nitrogen.
