Redlake MASD Ektapro High Speed Video: The Edgerton Center has a Redlake MASD Ektapro Model 1012 High Speed Video System on loan from Redlake MASD Inc. This system is capable of recording 256 gray scale black and white digital image data at 1000 frames per second, with a resolution of 192x239 pixels. By shrinking the image height the system can go up to 12,000 frames per second. (More up-to-date models can record even faster than this.) The Edgerton Center uses the system in a variety of ways: *as a teaching tool in the Strobe Project Laboratory course (6.163). Students work with the system on planned laboratory exercises and may use it as needed in their independent projects. *as an exciting demonstration of high-speed imaging capabilities for visiting students, parents, and visitors of all ages. *as a resource for laboratories around MIT, in order to introduce them to the capabilities of high speed video acquisition and its potential application in their research. |
