Le bon policier est-il Robocop ?
En premiere analyse des reponses donnees au theme : qu'est-ce
qu'un bon policier, j'ai etabli un graphe Excel base sur quelques
mots clefs. La premiere chose qui ressort de cette etude est l'importance
qu'accordent Americains et Francais au theme du droit, de la loi
et de la justice. Le bon policier doit donc avant tout respecter
et oeuvrer pour le droit, en accord avec la loi. Ce theme a un
peu plus d'importance pour les Americains, mais se distingue tres
nettement des autres dans les deux cas. Ensuite l'importance accordee
aux themes varie de maniere nettement plus significative. Alors
que les Francais sont tres preoccupes par l'ordre, les Americains
n'y accordent aucune importance. Le climat social en France serait-il
a ce point mauvais ? Ou bien le policier americain a-t-il un role
vraiment different du policier francais ? A cote de cela, les
Americains considerent qu'apres le respect de la loi, c'est celui
de l'ethique qui prime. Les Francais y accordent egalement une
certaine importance, mais nettement moindre. Par contre, au contraire
des Americains, ils gratifient le policier d'un cote humain qui
le sauve du robocopisme.
It is somewhat strange that you associate American police with
'robocopism.' Although I have not personally had an encounter
with a police officer, i am sure that majority of them are not
too different than the one's in France. They abide by different
laws, and because the Americans of the inner cities are less fearful
of police they are not given the respect they deserve. Depending
upon what part of America you are in, the police may have a very
difficult job or nothing to do. It is the cops who realize that
their job is almost not necessary who we stereotype as fat, lazy,
and always eating doughnuts. Our school even had an incident when
someone assembled an actual police car on top of one of our buildings
with a blow-up police man and a box of doughnuts inside. We thought
it was hilarious, but the one who are trying to gain respect and
authority probably didn't. How often are there serious crimes
in France? If the police do not seem prevalent, how do they keep
order and do such a great job of it?
