There are three sales each year where work made in the Glass Lab can be bought by the general public: the Christmas sale, the Mother's Day sale and the Great Glass Pumpkin Patch. The Pumpkin Patch is the lab's most work intensive event. To create the 1500 to 2000 pumpkins sold at the sale each year the pumpkins are made all year long by crews of six people. Everyone in the lab helps to make the pumpkins, with students and instructors, beginner and advanced glassblowers all working together. Pumpkin crews are chaotic but fun; at times each of the six people on the crew will be crossing the room with hot glass. The pumpkin sale is also the lab's most popular event. It typically takes no more than four hours for ninety percent of the pumpkins to be claimed and sold.
