MITGraduate Housing Assignments

Room to Room Transfers

If you wish to change rooms within your building, and you live in Sidney-Pacific, Edgerton, or Tang, please complete a transfer application on the appropriate link below:

Edgerton Internal Transfer Application

Sidney Pacific Internal Transfer Application

Tang Hall Internal Transfer Application

You will be added to the transfer waiting list for your building and we will offer you a room transfer via email if a room becomes available.

If you are a resident of Ashdown House and you wish to change your room within Ashdown House you can participate in the next Ashdown In-House Room Assignments Lottery. For more details about any future lotteries please contact the Ashdown House Executive Committee (ahec@mit.edu). Please note that lottery assignments are based on seniority points earned through length of residency and service as an officer.

The transfer policy for family housing is more complicated. Please see the web page about family housing policies.

Building to Building Transfers

The Building to Building Transfer process is now closed. The next Building to Building Transfer lottery will begin November 2, 2009. Only current residents who will be fully registered MIT Graduate Students in the Spring of 2010 are eligible.

Please note that the ability to transfer depends on vacancies and the number of people that enter the transfer lottery. The more people that enter, the better your chances that we will be able to find a transfer for you.

The next opportunity for residents to transfer buildings will be to terminate your assignment for the fall of 2010 and enter the Continuing Student Allocation in the spring of 2010. However, we do not recommend this because there will be limited spaces available and you may not get back into Graduate Housing for the fall term.

The Building to Building Transfer Process will reopen November 2, 2009.
