    Welcome to New House

We congratulate you on your accomplishments. You are embarking on an incredibly unique journey and we look forward to supporting you.

As you begin your search for a home, we encourage you to take a look at New House. In addition to being the most diverse community on campus, we are committed to complementing your academic experience with programs and activities that enrich your stay at the Institute.

At New House our diversity is our strength. Our residents reflect our global society and the people you will work and play with after MIT. Together, we study, play, share our beliefs, our values, our hopes and our dreams for a better world; believing that peace and prosperity start at home, one person at a time.

…And we are just far enough away from the classrooms and labs to make you feel like you have "come home" at the end of the day.

Our residence consists of nine smaller communities, - Houses of New House. Four of the nine houses are our "Numbered" houses. NH2, NH3, NH4, and NH5 each have their own character and vibrancy. Four houses are our Cultural Houses. French House, German House, Spanish House, and Chocolate City provide opportunities for total immersion in their respective cultures. We are particularly excited about the launch of the Institute’s newest living-learning community which rounds out our ninth house. Designed specifically to inspire and train the next generation of world leaders, International House for Global Citizenship (iHouse) is another example of the progressive and creative way we come together as a community. Together they convey our essence.

Wes, Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Associate Provost, and Sandra, Principal of S Harris Interiors, along with our golden retriever, Whistler, welcome you to MIT.

We wish you the very best ….and we invite you to "come home" to New House.

    Wes and Sandra Harris
