technologies, Dow Corning contributes their capabilities
in the design of interfaces, electronics, and materials

collaborate with the ISN on new variants on their silicon

Nomadics
ICx Nomadics pursues the research and development of emerging
technologies focused on homeland security and force protection.
Research and development efforts encompass sensing technologies
and instrumentation, nanotechnology and further advancement
of the biological and medical frontiers. Their pioneering
efforts have led to the continuing development of an array
of powerful new commercial products that include ultra-sensitive
explosive detection systems. |

At Nano-C’s core is an energy and environmentally
efficient combustion-based process technology invented
at MIT by Nano-C Founder and MIT Professor Emeritus,
Jack B. Howard. Nano-C is the exclusive developer and
owner of the advanced II-G technology which has enabled
Nano-C to be a leader in the efficient production of
high-quality fullerenic materials. |

Systems
A materials company located just outside Boston,
Triton Systems has particular interest in transparent
ballistic protection materials that achieve their strength
from the dispersion of nanoparticles into polymers. They
are helping the ISN pursue new breakthroughs in this area
for possible use as protective face shields and other
soldier equipment. |

The first molecular nanotechnology company, Zyvex
is located in Richardson, Texas. They provide nanotechnology
solutions for real-world applications with a growing product
portfolio—comprised of tools, materials, and structures.
Zyvex collaborates with the ISN in nanomaterial characterization
and testing, carbon nanotube composites, and microsystem
assembly. |

Battelle’s Natick Operations center provides
technical and programmatic support services in the areas
of textile technology, material science, chemical and
biological defense, personal protective equipment, and
domestic preparedness. Battelle Natick Operations is
located near the Natick Soldier Center, which conducts
projects to meet mission requirements for a number of
Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force organizations. |

development firm principally located in suburban Boston,
