city and sky
In this section, the photographs introduce some of the amazing colors of the sky during sunset and views of Boston and Cambridge from Charlestown. Most of images were taken at the end of September, around 6:00 o'clock in the evening. One of the most beautiful aspects of Charlestown is the relationship of the place to the sky. Because houses are tightly arranged adjacent to one another and because the heights of buildings are rather tall in relation to the width of street, one tends to look up to the sky for escape from this confrontation and is in turn rewarded with beautiful views. The last image, which I have entitled "Lunatic Sky" was taken on a night with full moon. The color of red of the sky in the picture symbolizes, for me, the anger of an established neighborhood which has been invaded by new comers.
