McGovern investigators pursue many avenues of research
that are of interest to industry. MIT's policy on research agreements
with industrial sponsors provides the basis for developing productive
relationships.
The research must be of intellectual interest to the McGovern investigator
and responsibility for directing the research must reside with the McGovern
principal investigator. As a tax-exempt institution, MIT may not engage
in commercial activities such as product development or routine testing,
but this does not necessarily preclude the fabrication of conceptual models
and lab prototypes.
