POLYMER RESEARCH CHEMIST
DOW CHEMICAL
Title: Polyurethane research chemist
Job description: This job entails the design and invention
of polyols and polyurethane derivatives for performance applications.
The role requires
strong skills in polymer chemistry and organic synthesis. Performance
applications include specialty foams, adhesives, sealants, and
elastomers. The candidate will be expected to utilize scientific
methodology to invent products and understand polymer behavior
and reaction mechanisms, file patent disclosures, and thoroughly
document work. Dow's Polyurethane Business is a market leader
in the supply of polyols, isocyanates, and formulated systems;
the market is approximately $25 Billion globally. The role resides
in our Product Research department, and the candidate will play
a central role in designing new products and understanding the
role of chemical composition in product performance for polyurethane
applications around the world.
Location: Freeport, Texas - approximately 1 hour from
center of Houston.
Requirements: PhD in polymer chemistry or equivalent.
Timing for job start: Today through
end of 2006.
