Directions to MIT Sloan
The Main building of the MIT Sloan campus is at 50 Memorial Drive in Cambridge, MA (it is known as ‘E52’). However, most speaking engagements take place in the more modern-looking Tang building (known as E-51). Please refer to the map on the following page for building locations. See also the section on finding rooms at Sloan.
By Taxi: Your taxi driver will most likely recognize our name and address. If the driver needs additional information, ask to be taken to the eastern end of the MIT campus just west of the Longfellow Bridge. The cross road is Memorial and Wadsworth Street. We are right behind Kendall Square on the river side.
By Car: You can easily find MIT Sloan on a map of Cambridge; we are beside the Charles River, between the Longfellow and Harvard Bridges. We recommend that you park your car at the nearest public (pay) lot marked on the attached map (http://whereis.mit.edu/map-jpg). Free parking is available on Memorial Drive, but spaces are scarce during business hours and parking regulations are strictly enforced. Alternatively, the Kendall Square Marriott has valet parking services (enter from Broadway) and is a 5 minute walk from MIT Sloan. The Marriott lot can also be accessed directly from Ames Street as a regular pay lot.
If you are driving to Cambridge from the north or west, consider leaving your car in the commuter parking garage at Alewife Station, the northernmost stop on the Red Line. Alewife Station is located on Route 2 just before you enter Cambridge—look for the round white “T” sign. The subway ride from Alewife to the Kendall Square station is five stops and takes about 20 minutes. If you are driving in from the south, you can leave your car in the commuter parking garage on the Southeast Expressway in Quincy. This well-marked T station is one of the southernmost stops on the Red Line. The ride to Kendall from here takes about 25 minutes.
By Public Transportation: Boston’s public transportation system—known as “the T”—was our country’s first subway, and boasts a comprehensive grid of underground and surface trains, trolleys, and buses. To find MIT Sloan, go to any subway station. Inside the station, look for the color-coded map of the subway system. We are located on the Red Line at the Kendall Square station. (See http://www.mbta.com for detailed maps and schedules.)
When you come out of the Kendall Square station on Main Street, look for the bank sign at the corner of Wadsworth Street. Take a right on Wadsworth, cross the street, and walk half a block toward the Charles River. The Sloan Plaza, and E52 are on your left. Tang Building, E51, is ahead on the right. Once inside E51, the elevator and stairs will be on your right (the elevator is tucked behind the stairwell). For rooms in the 100’s, head up the stairs and head to the end of the long hallway; the rooms will be on your left at the end. For rooms in the 300’s, it is easiest to take the elevator up to the third floor. The rooms will be on your left if they are 315-345. For rooms greater than 345, head down the hallway to the end, and turn right into another hallway. For rooms less than 100, good luck (just kidding). Walk down the short flight of stairs just ahead and to the left of the main stairwell to the lower level and head down the hallway on the right of this area. Keep going until rooms appear on your left, like 057, 059, etc. The hall may take a few zigs and zags before you get there, but we’ll make it worth your effort!
Access to Sloan from Logan Airport on the T is just as straightforward. Take the free airport shuttle bus from your terminal to Airport Station, which is on the Blue Line of the subway. Take an inbound Blue Line train to the Government Center stop. Walk up one flight of stairs and take a west-bound Green Line trolley to the next stop, which is Park Street. Here, you can get on an outbound Red Line train by walking down one flight of stairs to the Alewife platform. The Kendall Square stop is just two stops away.
Finding Specific Rooms: Most speaking engagements take place in the more modern-looking Tang building (known as E-51). Please refer to the map on the following page for building locations.
