Colonel Harold C. Bass, USMC, is a Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps graduate from Jacksonville University. He received a master's degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the College of Naval Command and Staff. From April 1992 to April 1994, he served as the Assistant S-3 Officer for 5th Battalion, 10th Marines and as Battery Commander for Battery S, 5th Battalion, 10th Marines where he deployed with Battalion Landing Team 1/2, participating in Operation Restore Hope and Continue Hope, Somalia and Operation Cease Fire, Kuwait. Between August 2000 and June 2003, Col. Bass served as a Joint Exercise Planner and the lead project officer for the Joint National Training Capability with the Joint Training Directorate J-7/Joint Warfighting Center, US Joint Forces Command, Suffolk, Virginia and was designated as a Joint Specialty Officer. From July 2003 until July 2005, he served as the Inspector Instructor, 3d Battalion, 14th Marines in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Before coming to MIT he was assigned to his second joint tour with Combine Forces Command/ US Forces Korea as a ground operations officer.
Lieutenant Colonel (Promotable) Louis Lartigue, USA, is a graduate of the US Military Academy and is also the Distinguished Graduate from the Infantry Officers Advanced course Fort Benning, GA. He earned two MS degrees in Simulation Systems and in Engineering Management at the University of Central Florida. In 2002, he was a Distinguished Graduate from the US Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, VA with a Masters Degree in Military Studies. He has served as Tank Platoon leader in Desert Shield and Desert Storm, has been stationed in Germany, and later was assigned to the Operations Directorate, J3 of the Joint Staff at the Pentagon. In February 2005, LTC(P) Lartigue assumed command of 2nd Squadron, 9th U.S. Cavalry as part of the 3rd Heavy BCT, 4th ID at Fort Carson, Colorado. The Squadron deployed to Iraq as part of OIF 05-07 and was attached to 3 BCT, 101st Air Assault Division with duty at FOB Wilson, Ad Dawr, Iraq. After transitioning the base into a factory and Iraqi Army compound, the squadron moved to FOB Normandy to continue counter-insurgency operations with 3 BCT, 4th ID in Diyala Province.
Lieutenant Colonel Todd M. Piergrossi, USAF, is a National Defense Fellow whose studies include economic globalization, Information Technology law, and China's foreign policy. His research is in the cyber warfare arena. He is a graduate of Boston University and was commissioned through the AFROTC program. He has had diverse assignments in software programming, air defense systems analysis, tactical air control, counter-narcotics interdiction, network operations and security, and staff assignments in both Air Combat Command and The Joint Staff. Lt Col Piergrossi has commanded twice at the squadron level. He holds two Masters degrees and was twice recognized as a Distinguished Graduate from the National Defense University's Information Resource Management College. Prior to his current position, Lt Col Piergrossi was the Chief, Systems Operations Division, Air Force Personnel Center, Randolph Air Force Base, TX. He led a diverse team of military, civilian and contractor personnel responsible for the daily operations, maintenance and security of the AF's $100M personnel data system; supporting over 700,000 Total Force active duty, Guard, Reserve, retiree and civilians worldwide.
