One of the most striking aspects of China’s ‘new diplomacy’ in
the past several years has been its active participation in multilateral
institutions in Central and Southeast Asia. China’s regional engagement
has important implications for the long-term security architecture in the
region. This project examines the opportunities for US-China strategic dialogue
on regional issues as well potential challenges posed by China’s growing
diplomatic influence.
This research project is managed by Professor Taylor
Fravel, an Assistant
Professor in the MIT Political Science department.
