Walmart, the world's largest corporation, has made a worldwide reputation on cost-cutting and low prices.
However, some claim its business practices have negative effects on surrounding communities. So who's right?
Jerry Hausman, MacDonald Professor of Economics at MIT and 1985 winner of the John Bates Clark Medal, will present
current research and comments on the role of Walmart in communities and its overall effect on the poor.
A reception will follow immediately afterwards.

XIV PhD '84), and Robert Solow, MIT Economic Professor and 1987 winner
of the Nobel Prize in Economics, will speak at a panel discussion and
field all of your questions about the best policies and
approaches the new President should take.
