- AACII Administrative Officer (AO) Networking Breakfast Events
Starting in 2009, AACII sponsored a networking event for AOs and AO equivalents. We had often heard that being an AO can be an isolated and challenging job and wanted to provide a platform where AOs and AO equivalents have the opportunity to meet peers and share their experiences. The original event was a major success and the feedback received was to repeat the event on an annual basis.

- Review of the Administrative Officer Position
In the fall of 2000, the Provost and Executive Vice President
asked AACII to examine the role of the Administrative Officer (AO) at
MIT. In June, 2001, AACII published the report, "Review of the
Administrative Officer Position." Authored by Elizabeth Cooper
and Tom Hrycaj, the report built on prior work of AAC and included input
and comment from AACII members and the Institute's administrative community.
We have included this document in the AACII Archives because it is a
valuable contribution to understanding the AO's role at MIT. Download

Archive for the Administrative Advisory Committee
The Administrative Advisory Committee (AAC) was the predecessor to AACII.
In October 2000, AAC was re-organized to become the Administrative Advisory
Council II (AACII).
Each year the Committee engages in a number of liaison activities,including
meeting with representatives of various central areas such as Purchasing,
Campus Police, Environmental Medical Service, Physical Plant, the Comptroller's
Accounting Office, Information Systems, the Personnel Office, and Telecommunications,
among others, to discuss issues of areas of mutual concern. The Committee
is used as a sounding board and, in general, procedures that have been
reviewed by the Committee before they have been put into effect have had
a smoother implementation.
The Administrative Advisory Committee sponsors an annual Administrative
Forum Series for Department, Center, Laboratory and other organizational
unit administrators. The forum has identified many opportunities for improving
communication across the community, gathering information, sharing resources
and innovations, and provides a platform to share information and gather
