Late Changes to Your Registration

REGISTRATION FOLLOWING clearance of a FINANCIAL HOLD

If a financial hold on your registration is cleared on or before Add Date (see Academic Calendar), you may register through the Student Services Center in 11-120. If your hold is cleared after Add Date, you must petition CAP to be allowed to register and add your subjects.

Petitioning to Register for a Term Following Clearance of a Financial Hold

Registering after Add Date has significant implications for the student and for many Institute functions. Such petitions are therefore first reviewed by a committee composed of CAP's ex-officio members representing Student Financial Services, the Registrar, and Student Support Services. If a majority of this committee recommends further review, the full CAP will consider the merits of the petition.

If you are considering a petition to register late, be sure to consult a dean in Student Support Services (Room 5-104, 617-253-4861) as early in the term as possible, and definitely before submitting a petition. Student Support deans can help you interact with Student Financial Services and prepare your petition statement. They also meet with CAP and, with your permission, can advocate for you, based on your personal circumstances.

See the Petition Process section for general instructions.
