ADDING A SUBJECT
The deadlines for adding a subject to your registration
are as follows:
-
Add Date is the last day to add regular subjects and
half-term subjects given in the first half of the term to
your registration.
-
Drop Date is the last day to add time-arranged subjects
that start after beginning of the term, such as UROP, thesis,
special topics and individual study. It is also the last day
to add half-term subjects given in the second half of the
term to your registration.
If you would like
-
to add a subject to your current registration after
the Institute deadline has passed or
-
to retroactively add a subject taken during a prior
term to your academic record,
you will need to petition the CAP. If you were
previously on financial hold and must now register for the term
late, then you should petition to register
following a financial hold.
To Petition to Add a Subject Late
Late
Add of a UROP
In the absence of compelling, extraordinary
circumstances, the CAP will not
approve petitions to late add
UROP subjects, effective January 31,
2005. You can add UROP subjects to your
registration up until Drop Date each
term.
Instructions on proper registration
procedures for UROP subjects:
- Appear in UROP
Guidelines each term along with
the applicable registration deadlines. Registration
deadlines are also provided on the
UROP coversheet.
- Are verbally communicated to students
by the UROP staff
- Are e-mailed to students who have
credit paperwork on file with UROP
on three occasions between Registration
Day and Drop Date.
If you have any questions about how
to register your credit or are unsure
about the subject number for which you
should register, please contact UROP
staff immediately. See http://mit.edu/urop/howto.html#credit for
additional details.
In view of the several opportunities
afforded students in UROP registration,
the CAP will deny UROP late add petitions
(unless the student presents evidence
that failure to register in a timely
fashion was due to events beyond his/her
control).
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact
the CAP.
