Next High Performance Network for Higher Education
|
Wednesday, January 13,1999
from 8:30 - 4:30 p.m.(lunch 12-1:30 p.m.) Room 10-250
Internet2 is a collaborative effort by over 120 US universities to develop advanced Internet technology and applications vital to the research and education missions of higher education. The capabilities made possible by an advanced network like Internet2 will undoubtedly affect the way we teach and conduct research. The aim of this seminar is
to present an understanding both the technology and the history behind
the launching of Internet2. The seminar will provide a framework for understanding
the relationship between high-performance networks and high-performance
applications. The seminar will also offer examples of Internet2 applications
currently under development at MIT and elsewhere and describe some of the
architecture, middleware tools and infrastructure components needed to
support these types of applications.
