MIT's New Media Centers and Application of "New Media" in
the Curriculum Wednesday, September 3 2:00 pm to 4:00 PM N42 Demo Center |
One year ago, MIT joined the New Media Centers consortium. Since then, we've set up two IS-sponsored facilities, and have assisted in the creation of two additional departmental multimedia labs (in Foreign Languages and the Edgerton Center). The newest facility is the classroom in 26-139, which is celebrating its grand opening this month. This room contains 13 Macintosh G3 machines and is equipped with video digitizing, color scanning, and audiovisual projection systems.
Join us for a Crosstalk discussion about multimedia use at MITits impact on the curriculum, the implications for support and delivery of "new-media" educational services, and what the NMC consortium means to us. Afterwards we'll take a field trip to the new classroom to try out some of the applications.

This "poster and discussion" session will highlight the features and implications of recent joint endeavors such as the Electronic Reserves, Electronic Theses, Network Access, Databases, Table of Contents Services, Barton (our catalog) on the Web.
