ACS Electronic Classroom Reservation Policy

There are three reservable electronic classrooms: 1-115 with 23 color Sun SPARC 5 workstations, 14-0637 with 17 color Sun SPARC5s, E53-220 with 20 Sun SPARC5s. In addition, 4-035 has with 20 SGI workstations and doubles as both a public cluster and a reservable facility. We are pleased that the MIT community has been finding these facilities excellent places in which to teach.

1-115, 14-0637, and E53-220 are scheduled by the Schedules Office, and the procedure for reserving these rooms is in accord with their standard procedures for scheduling other classrooms at the Institute, with the following exceptions:

  1. In case of a conflict in scheduling regular weekly classes, the Department of Humanities will have priority in 14-0637, since they helped to find the space for and fund the classroom.
  2. The MIT Libraries have the right to reserve up to four hours per week of priority time in E53-220, since they gave the space for this facility
  3. We do not automatically accept undergraduates as instructors in the electronic classrooms, and will do this only if the activity in question has a faculty sponsor and an individual who accepts the responsibility for adhering to the Rules of Use for these facilities.
  4. Requests for use of the facilities by groups other than MIT subjects will be honored, but are not guaranteed until two weeks before the date requested.
