- MSI Information
- Repackaged MSI from Mozilla Thunderbird installer using InstallShield.
Used silent install switches (-ms -ira) while running setup during Snapshot.
- Removed HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry hive. Removed License info, Thunderbird
safe mode, profile manager, readme from Program Menu folder.
- Removed the desktop icon. Used post installation MSI from previous Thunderbird
MSI to setup various registry keys as well as a startup script to set appropriate
permissions for use the restricted users in our environment.
- Configuration Issues
- You must install the MSI, postinstall MSI and startup script as listed
below and deploy all the appropriate versions of the plugins you need. You
may need to restart your machines twice after pushing out the application
to ensure all the keys get set correctly.
- The mozilla_thunderbird_mit.msi will set up your MIT email automatically
after installation. To do this run the Setup Thunderbird for MIT Email from
the Program menu before running Thunderbird.
- Known Bugs
- As a restricted user - go into the Mail & Newsgroups Options and check
the boxes to make Thunderbird your default mail and news applications. It
will complain that it can not set a registry key. Thunderbird is the default
mail reader despite this warning. The MSI sets this and everything appears
to work as it should.
