Academy of Courageous Minority Engineers (ACME)

ACME is a group designed to support minority graduate students. The purpose of ACME is to enhance the experience of minority graduate students by facilitating and supporting programming which ultimately leads to the completion of our respective graduate degrees. ACME sponsors two main activities, Accountability Thursdays and the ACME Lunch Series.

ACME Accountability Thursdays
ACME “Accountability Thursdays” is a weekly forum where we discuss and provide constructive feedback on our research goals and progress toward those goals. In addition, we discuss strategies for navigating key features of the graduate school process. Discussion topics include time management, preparations for the qualifying exams, relationships with advisors and committee members, and relationships with group members and research associates. To become a member of ACME you can either join an existing forum or start a new one. Forums are typically designed for students in related fields of study. ACME forums are supported by a custom online system that allows members to post and track their personal goals, and view the goals of other members.
For more detailed information about ACME activities, please email etg-acme@mit.edu.

ACME Lunch Series
The ACME Lunches are a series of technical discussions. They provide a diverse and supportive environment for graduate students to present research ideas, problems, papers, or results, and receive feedback from leading experts in a range of disciplines. If you would like the current ACME Lunch schedule, or would like to present, please send an email to etg-acme@mit.edu. We recognize there is an abundance of intellectual horsepower in the minority graduate community at MIT. ACME serves to nurture and harness our capabilities, and help us to make significant research contributions to our respective fields while we progress towards our graduate degree.
