written by Tony Kushner
directed by Michelle Starz
performed May 23-26, 1996

Set in Berlin during the final months of the Weimar Republic and the beginning of the Third Reich (interspersed with a series of "interruptions" set in 1989 Berlin), the play focuses on the relationships among a group of artists and political activists, and on their compromises and acts of defiance in a period of turbulent and ominous political upheaval.
