Accommodations & Food

Accommodations

You will be matched with an undergraduate student host and will stay either in a single-sex or coed dormitory (on campus), or in a fraternity/sorority house or independent living group (on campus or nearby in Cambridge/Boston). Unfortunately, we cannot provide accommodations for students arriving before April 16 or leaving after April 19, so please plan accordingly. You should bring a towel, a pillow and a sleeping bag. If you have any special requirements concerning your living arrangements, please be sure to let us know in advance of your arrival on campus.

Although we cannot provide accommodations for parents, we have reserved blocks of rooms at a reduced rate for the nights of April 16-19 at Le Meridien Cambridge, Marriott Hotel Cambridge, Doubletree Guest Suites Boston, and Liberty Hotel Beacon Hill. Please see the For Parents page for information on availability of reduced rate rooms and reservation deadlines.

Food

There’s no need to worry about food over the weekend. Food will be served at a number of special weekend events, plus you’ll be given a meal card that you can use at select dining halls. MIT dining halls offer a varied menu, with choices ranging from sandwiches to burgers and hot meals to vegetarian options. However, if you would like to try out the local cuisine, we have provided some recommendations on the Exploring Cambridge/Boston page.

Your parents will be given a list of campus dining options and recommended area restaurants at the CPW Parent Registration desk. Light refreshments will be also served at select events.
