Interdepartmental Programs

Interdepartmental programs are especially vigorous at MIT. For example, in the Research Laboratory of Electronics, graduate students and faculty from 12 departments, ranging from physics and life sciences to modern languages and economics, find an effective and congenial environment for their creative work.

There are many more opportunities for students to work out interdepartmental programs with interested faculty members.

Current programs include:

Biomedical Engineering
Computation for Design and Optimization (CDO)
Computational and Systems Biology (CSB)
Economics and Urban Studies
Health Sciences and Technology
Leaders for Manufacturing
Medical Engineering and Medical Physics
Microbiology (MICRO)
MIT-Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), Joint Program in Oceanography
