(Message rssc/sac:6) Date: Tue, 21 Sep 1999 12:59:03 EDT To: advise@MIT.EDU From: BillyB Subject: introduction/objectives minutes 9/21/99 Members present: Chris R., Amir Introduction: -This is meant to be a full alternate proposal -About RSSC: -not complete -didn't include student interests -didn't start out with needs of system (though addressed them in end) -would like to maintain RSSC cross community base -As strategic advisory committee to chancellor Bacow, it's our job to suggest a proposal we feel will work -On 5 presidents: -they've done it before -they have specific student interests in mind -were able to come up with broad agreement on basic points -This is NOT intended to be an in depth critique of RSSC -We will present it to chancellor Bacow in hopes that he will accept. Objectives (we may blend this with intro instead of making it its own section): -To show that students are capable of design even with competing interests -strategic and capital planning -integrated interest based negotiation -include references from last 50 years -we hope that even if not adopted in whole, independent ideas from our proposal will find their way into the master plan -to come up with a good residence system, dammit. Keepin' it short and sweet, -Amir *--*--*--*--*--* Amir Mesarwi Phi Delta Theta IFC Vice President of Internal Affairs 97 Bay State Road Course 10, Chemical Engineering Boston, MA 02215 (617) 247-8691
