UROPUROP, the MIT Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program, allows undergraduates to participate in research as junior colleagues of Institute faculty. UROP offers the chance to do edge research. As UROPers, undergraduates participate in each phase of standard research activity: developing research plans, writing proposals, conducting research, analyzing data, and presenting research results. UROP students receive academic credit, pay, or work as volunteers. You can read more about the program on the UROP web site. There's a wide range of research programs in the Aero-Astro Department that offer UROP opportunities. To find out current UROP opportunities, you can contact faculty members whose research profiles are posted on the Course 16 UROP page. You may also visit the Aero-Astro Student Services office (Room 33-208) or email mas@mit.edu for additional UROP information. To receive sponsored research funds or UROP funds, you need to fill out a UROP proposal form, available in the Student Services Office, and write a short research proposal. If you wish direct financial UROP, your proposal must be received by the current UROP funding deadline. You may email mas@mit.edu or call (617) 253-2279 for deadlines. |
