LT COL LAWRENCE W. MCLAUGHLIN

Lt Col Larry McLaughlin is Commander, Air Force ROTC Detachment 365, and the Professor of Aerospace Studies at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA. His responsibilities include recruiting, educating and training cadets in preparation for active duty service in the United States Air Force through academic instruction in Air Force Doctrine and history, as well as practical experience in all aspects of leadership and officership.

Lt Col McLaughlin graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1988. After starting his career piloting the HH-1H, Lt Col McLaughlin transitioned to the MH-53J/M in 1992 and has spent the majority of his operational time in helicopter special operations units. In addition, his assignments include duties as MH-53J/M Instructor and Evaluator pilot, HQ USSOCOM Staff Officer, Director of Operations, and Helicopter Squadron Commander. He has participated in Operations Deny Flight, Provide Promise, Enduring Freedom, and twice deployed in support of Iraqi Freedom.
