New York City, NY

AgeLab is co-sponsoring Longevity 5: Longevity Risk & Capital Markets Solutions Conference to be held in New York City September 25, 2009 in collaboration with conference hosts, JP Morgan, St. Johns University and the City University London Cass Business School-based Pensions Institute.

The two-day international conference will include industry strategists and academic researchers examining longevity risk and the variety of instruments that may be needed by pension funds and insurance companies to manage this risk. MIT Mitsui Professor of Economics and President of the National Bureau of Economic Research James Poterba will serve as the opening plenary speaker presenting "Defined Contribution Plans, Mortality Risk, and the Demand for Annuities." Among the strategies to be considered by both private and public organizations is a longer worklife.
