Research Interests

Dr. Sheridan's research interests are in experimentation, modeling, and design of human-machine systems in aviation, rail and highway transportation, space and undersea robotics, process control, and medicine.

Dr. Sheridan earned a BS degree from Purdue University, an MS degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, an ScD degree from MIT, and was awarded an honorary doctorate from Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. He is a fellow and former president of both the IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society and the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, and is a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
