Internship Colloquium
Carl worked for AeroVironment, Inc. in Simi Valley, CA this summer. He supported preliminary development of Global Observer, a liquid hydrogen powered High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) UAV, focusing on rapid model and design development.
Andrew utilized engine cycle models to calculate engine performance under various conditions and changes to engine characteristics. I also assisted engineers in creating compressor maps and incorporating empirical data into models. Finally, I collaborated with my team to design an automated code to use engine test data in multiple cycle model predictions. These results were analyzed to compare test data and model predictions for an update to the cycle model.
Viviana worked at the Multi-Scale Fluidics Laboratory at Caltech. Her project involved designing, building and testing a pressure generating device for driving "lab on a chip" microfluidics.
