Undergraduate Educational Commons
To
fulfill its mission to advance knowledge and educate
students, MIT has undertaken a review of the educational
commons — those experiences of learning and discovery
that all MIT undergraduates share in common. The
Undergraduate Educational Commons (UEC) is a Presidential
Task Force charged with reviewing the goals, content,
and structure of an MIT undergraduate education and
reflecting on how best MIT can fulfill the mission
to serve the nation and the world in the 21st century. more

MIT Sloan CourseFest
MIT
Sloan Educational Services group manages the course selection process for
MIT Sloan School of Management. They provide information from many sources to help
students learn about courses and professors in preparation for the school’s course
bidding process.
Wanting to make the process easier for students, they tapped the
web design team to create a new web interface for the information gathering stage. more

In
July 2004, the O.K.I. team released Version 2.0 of the Open Service
Interface Definitions. With the maturing of the specifications, O.K.I.’s importance
and popularity increased in the open source community. The community needed timely
information. The team contacted AMPS to redesign the web site and update not only the
information but also the look and feel. more OKI>
CRE MITREX
The
Center for Real Estate (CRE) contacted AMPS and proposed creating
a knowledge base so that members of the community could share information in many forms.
Through an iterative design process, AMPS helped CRE expand its community-of-interest
model to create a knowledge base that also allowed people in the community to find
and make contact with others who have similar interests. more

ISN Virtual Tour
The Institute
for Soldier Nanotechnologies (ISN) is a collaborative research project between
the United States Army and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with their industrial
partners. The collaboration will create lightweight molecular materials to equip foot
soldiers of the future with uniforms and gear that can shield them, heal them, and
protect them against chemical and biological warfare.

ASP CD-ROM
The Advanced
Study Program (ASP) provides the opportunity for lifelong learning to working
professionals. The program unites the individual educational needs of key people in
an organization and the specific requirements of that organization with the vast educational
resources of MIT.

Course 100 Section Tool
Course
1.00 teaches fundamental software development and computational methods for
engineering and scientific applications. Since it satisfies a requirement, it is a
popular and well-enrolled course among undergraduates.

SMA TechCheck Tool
AMPS
developed the TechCheck tool for the Singapore-MIT Alliance
(SMA). SMA is an education and research collaboration among MIT, National
University of Singapore, and Nanyang Technological University. Students in Singapore
attend MIT classes simultaneously with students in Cambridge, MA through technologically
advanced distance learning facilities located at the universities. more
