[Note that the Friday schedule is different than usual.] Accomplished Thursday: - Completed weld prep of sill-bottom seams, door/sill joint, most floor holes, and one of the two transverse floor seams. - More equipment removed from front kick space, including heater core and foot vent louvers - Survey of patch shapes (for future cutting at Cruftlabs shop) - Built extension cord, scary L6-20P to 6-50R power adapter - Repaired Limor's MIG welder gun trigger circuit - Finished the cutting of pontoon runner pieces. Cleaned off the outside edges on belt sander to reduce on-site grinding. Since the angle grinder is Brookline, we have to finish the insides over there. Observations: - We have enough angle iron for both pontoon runner sets and two "V" braces (at the front and back of the passenger compartment). We are waiting for delivery of a final EC bed frame to provide enough metal to add a centrally-located "V" support on each side. - We still don't have the sheet metal to cover the pontoons. - The purpose of taking those front foot vent louvers out is to give us a place to shoot some expanding foam as insurance against the super-sketchy body panels just forward of the front doors. - I failed to notice until tonight that the MIG welder I borrowed is completely out of gas and has no wire. I'll bike to Igo's tomorrow with the gas cylinder strapped to my back. - Emily will attempt to procure a couple of EC welding helmets. Friday plans: PHASE 1 - BROOKLINE SITE - 6 PM (Steve, Scott) - Deliver steel, tools with Cruftwagon - Tack weld the pontoon runner structures in place, just so we can feel better about ourselves - Bring scrap metal, door assemblies, maybe trunk and hood back to Cruftlabs - Brookline operations will conclude by 7:30 PM sharp PHASE 2 - CRUFTLABS - 8:00 PM (Everyone) - Pizza to eat - Beer to drink - Door modification and patch cutting projects to soothe the soul Please e-mail me if you plan to attend Friday night's "social" so we can provide the proper amount of edibles.
