As said here a few weeks ago, our summer series are Fullmetal Alchemist and Master Keaton. No surprises, just two really good shows. For most of the summer it will just be just those two shows, so I hope you enjoy them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Open Officer Positions Help make the club better! For the next month or so we will be looking to fill the positions which remain after elections. The one elected position which remains is: - Secretary To hold these positions, you must be an MIT student (undergraduate or graduate). In addition, there are a number of important appointed offices (industrial liaison(s), acquisitions, communications), along with many voluntary positions that help keep the club running, keep the showings happening, and keep the library functioning. Please send a note to anime-inquiry to register your interest in running for office, and talk to the club officers about what it's like to be an officer. We have a page describing the election procedure here: http://web.mit.edu/anime/www/elections.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Different Location for July Showings Our regular showing room is being used by another group in July, so our showings on July 11, July 18, and July 25 will be held in Room 4-237. Directions to this room can be found here: http://web.mit.edu/anime/www/Showings/directions-4-237.shtml ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Membership Did your club membership expire in January? Renew now for continued library checkouts and other membership privileges. Or start a new membership for the term, the year, or a longer period. Ask for a form at the showing or print it in advance from our web site at: http://web.mit.edu/anime/register/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- No Pizza Tonight Due to a staffing shortage, we will not be selling pizza at our showings in July. We're sorry for the inconvenience. On a related note, if you're interested in helping out with pizza sales this summer and during the school year, please speak to an officer during intermission. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Library The library is open for checkouts again after our annual inventory. Please make sure that you have your request in by 5:00pm on Friday; requests received after that cutoff will not be honored. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Silence If you thought you could get away with talking during the less formal summer months, think again!! Nothing gets by Master Keaton and if you finds you talking, his goofy smile will be the least of your worries. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Programme 7:10 Fullmetal Alchemist 31-36 Fullmetal Alchemist is essentially about alchemy and the whacky hijinks one has when they are an alchemist. That's one part of the show at least, on the other hand the main plot is fairly serious and features two alchemist boys on a mission to atone for a past mistake. It's all contained in it's own universe and the end product is something we think is pretty good. But really, if you've not seen at least one episode of FMA then you should come to the showing just to confirm your anime fan cred. 10:10 Master Keaton 21-24 Welcome to this comprehensive story of the goings and comings of an insurance agent. If you've ever been in a car wreck you know how exciting dealing with insurance agents can be. One minute you're filling out forms, the next, he's protecting you from roving bands of well-armed thugs out to steal your secret treasure. Or maybe he's rescuing your friends from the clutches of terrorists. The last time I went (nasty little fender bender), the agent was a essential part of me escaping from the Russian Mafia. What's that you say? Your agent hasn't done any of those things. My first advice to you is to find a better insurance agent. My second is to come watch Master Keaton. A mild mannered insurance agent travels around the world saving the day by relying on a skill set develeoped in his mysterious past. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- (This showing is made possible in part with funding from Finboard and the Undergraduate Association of MIT.)
