Next week we start the spring semester and all the awesomeness that goes with it. The first half of our spring series will consist of School Rumble and Mnemosyne. The second half will close up with Pumpkin Scissors and Rocket Girls. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Open Officer Positions Help make the club better! For the next month or so we will be looking to fill the positions which remain after elections. The one elected position which remains is: - Secretary To hold these positions, you must be an MIT student (undergraduate or graduate). In addition, there are a number of important appointed offices (industrial liaison(s), acquisitions, communications), along with many voluntary positions that help keep the club running, keep the showings happening, and keep the library functioning. Please send a note to anime-inquiry to register your interest in running for office, and talk to the club officers about what it's like to be an officer. We have a page describing the election procedure here: http://web.mit.edu/anime/www/elections.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Membership Did your club membership expire in June? Renew now for continued library checkouts and other membership privileges. Or start a new membership for the term, the year, or a longer period. Ask for a form at the showing or print it in advance from our web site at: http://web.mit.edu/anime/register/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Pizza We'll be using the same token-based pizza sales system we have been using for awhile: we'll sell tokens two episodes before intermission that you can exchange for slices during intermission. This week's pizza options are: $1.50 Plain cheese $2.00 Pepperoni $2.00 Hawaiian (ham + pineapple) (this week's feature flavor) Future weeks will feature: - Hamburger - Sausage - Grilled Chicken - Hawaiian (ham + pineapple) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Pizza Ordering Procedure To bring you a more reliable pizza experience, we're going to be taking orders using a new procedure. Instead of taking a poll on the blackboard and then selling slices for cash, we'll sell tokens early in the evening which can be exchanged for slices during intermission. If there are extra slices, we'll sell tokens for them at intermission, but advance orders will get priority. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Library One more week of no more library, sorry for any confusion in past emails. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Silence Don't talk or you'll be the next victim!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Programme Higurashi no Naku Koro ni 22-26 While it might look like a pastel harem comedy, the opening thirty seconds --- showing a brutal double slaying with a baseball bat --- clues you in to the creeping horror to come. Keiichi has just moved to a small town way out in the hills. The town is so small, it has a one-room schoolhouse. During a holiday outing with his classmates, a chance encounter with a stranger informs him of a brutal murder that took place in the town a few years back. As the series unfolds, Keiichi is forced to wonder if his classmates were involved. Is it madness? Posession? Is it all in his head? Based on a doujinshi mystery game that's enjoyed several years of success (and continuing sequels) in Japan. Bring a friend. You won't want to walk home alone after watching this. *Thanks to Funimation for permission to show this series* Giant Robo 5-7 10 years ago Dr. Shizuma and his colleagues invented the Shizuma drive which is a revolutionizing new form of renewable and recyclable energy. Though they had to pay a heavy price for their success in a catastrophic accident that the world only wants to forget about. However, all is not well as the secret organization Big Fire is hell-bent on taking over the world. They have obtained two of three mysterious Shizuma drive samples with an unknown function, which are an integral part of their world domination plans. The third sample has however been stolen by Dr. Shizuma who during his escape is saved by Daisaku, Giant Robo and the Experts of Justice. Then a desperate struggle begins between the Experts of Justice and Big Fire for the control of the last sample as Big Fire unleashes their mightiest weapon, the Eye of Volger, upon the unsuspecting world. Soon everything points towards the hidden truth behind the accident 10 years ago as the starting point of everything. *Thanks to Media Blasters for permission to show this series* Blurb Borrowed from Anime News Network* ----------------------------------------------------------------------- (This showing is made possible in part with funding from Finboard and the Undergraduate Association of MIT.)
