The MIT Anime Club is a non-profit MIT student organization dedicated
to increasing the awareness of Japanese animation (anime). We hold weekly
free showings on Friday nights open to the MIT community and general public.
Most of our showings are subtitled in English, allowing the non-Japanese-speaking
viewer to enjoy some of the best animation in the world. For further information,
please contact our officers at
.
You may also check our website at:
http://web.mit.edu/anime/www/
The Club currently has two levels of membership: Attendees and Club Members. We do not share member information with anyone. Attendees constitute all non-Club members who attend showings. We ask that all non-Club Members sign up as Attendees. This allows us to accurately report our attendee count to MIT. There is no fee associated with this type of membership.
Club Members who pay dues per term are entitled to many services that the Club offers. Anyone inside or outside the MIT community may become a Club Member. Cash or checks to "MIT Anime Club" are accepted.

| Fall 2007 - Spring 2008: | $20 | $24 |
| Fall 2007 only: | $15 | $17 |
The membership fee includes a $10 deposit which is refundable at the end of your membership. If you renew, you don't need to pay it again.
Member services are described below, and are only available to Club Members with clear accounts.
Club Members receive laminated photo IDs, which are valid for their entire membership periods. The ID either has a personal photo or a picture of a favorite anime character. Pictures should be MIT Photo ID size: 3cm long x 3.2cm high (1 3/16" long x 1 1/4" high).
Occasionally we receive special or promotional items, which we raffle off to Club Members at showings. Please present your member ID when we are raffling items.
The Club maintains a lending library that members may use for their viewing pleasure. Our collection is one of the largest of any group in the United States. Membership fees include a $10 security deposit, which is good for the entire duration of membership and refundable if you have returned any items you borrowed. All Library policies are subject to the discretion of the Librarian. Consult the Library Checkout Policy document for more information.
Our large library is due to the tremendous effort and generosity of our officers since 1990. We are always trying to expand our library, but sometimes series go unnoticed on our radar. If you know of an anime that you like, but that we do not have in our library, tell us. We kindly accept recommendations, and we gladly accept (tax-deductible) donations. Contact the acquisitions officer if you would like to recommend or donate anime.
Club Members receive discounts at select anime stores:
Present your membership card or information when buying products from these stores.
miteiru!, The Journal of Japanese Animation at MIT, is published several times every year. We encourage members to submit articles and artwork to the newsletter. If you are interested in creating newsletter content, contact the editor-in-chief.
If a member fails to pay dues or late fees, withholds Library items, flames, harasses others, or commits a gross violation of the Club Membership policies or the MITNet and Athena Rules of Use, his or her membership may be suspended or revoked.
Club Member dues and donations support additional anime purchases, and allow us to promote anime throughout the community. Officers meet regularly to determine how our budget is allocated. We encourage Club Members to come to officer meetings if they have comments or suggestions. We also encourage members to donate tapes, DVDs, CDs, books, and other anime material that is not already in the library.
We hope that you make anime part of your daily life. Welcome to the Club!
