Saving the world from terrorists is easy...high school is hard.
Kaname Chidori is good-looking, athletic, and popular, although she might be considered a bit brash, and she has a a wicked backhand with a fighting fan. She's also targeted for kidnapping by the KGB or "other unspecified agencies" for mysterious reasons that seem to involve buried memories.
Sagara Sousuke is a sergeant in the Mithril secret organization, which uses unusually advanced technology to keep the world safe. Assigned to go undercover with his team to protect Kaname, he rapidly realizes that a lifetime of training on military bases hasn't really prepared him at all for high-school life in Japan.
As far as Chidori is concerned, "Protection" is "stalking", and Sagara is just a military-hardware otaku, until he proves that he's definitely someone you want in your corner when the bullets start to fly.
A unique blend of romantic comedy and action-packed mecha combat, Full Metal Panic! is one of the highlights of this year's anime crop.
