Dialup says UNKNOWN USERNAME when connecting by MODEM

If you consistently get the message:

  You are not allowed to log in here: Unknown username

when you know you're typing your username correctly, it usually means
that your terminal program has incorrect settings. Make sure it is set
to:

	8 data bits
	1 stop bit
	No parity
	Full duplex
