Options for handling HARASSMENT problems
* Don't Ignore Harassment
Harassment of any kind is unacceptable at MIT and is in conflict with
the interests and policies of the Institute. This is MIT Policy.
See MIT Policies & Procedures, Section 9.5:
http://mit.edu/policies/9.5.html
* Stop It!
Is it harassment? Ask yourself these four questions:
- Did the incident actually take place?
- Did it cause stress that affected your ability, or the ability of
others, to work or study?
- Was it unwelcome behavior?
- Would a reasonable person of your gender/race/religion/sexual_orientation
subjected to this behavior find it unacceptable?
If you answer yes to these questions, please don't ignore the
situation.
* Here's What to Do
- If you are in danger, call Campus Police x3-1212
or "100" (emergency)
- To talk to someone off the record,
call Nightline x3-8800
or a Counseling Dean x3-4861
or an Ombudsman x3-5921
- If you want help from IS&T, send e-mail to stopit@mit.edu
