How can I use AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), ICQ, MSN Messenger, or Yahoo Messenger on Athena?

A version of AIM is available in the sipb locker. To run it, open a
Terminal or xterm, and type at the athena prompt:

add sipb ; tik &

A version of Yahoo Messenger is available in the im locker for Linux
workstations only. To run it, open a Terminal or xterm, and type at the
athena% prompt:

    add im ; ymessenger &

For Sun workstations, you might want to try opening up a web browser, and
going to Yahoo's webmessenger site at:

http://messenger.yahoo.com/#webmessenger

There also exists a multi-protocol IM program called gaim, in the im
locker. You can use it to connect to AIM, ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, MSN
Messenger, Jabber, Zephyr, IRC, and Gadu-Gadu.  To run it, open a Terminal
window or xterm and type the following at the athena% prompt:

add im ; gaim &

You can click on accounts and add any instant messenger accounts from
any of the supported IM services that you've used in the past.
