How to PRINT your PLOT

You can print to a printer or to a file from Tecplot. If you are going
to be printing to a printer from Tecplot, you should type

setenv PRINTER printername

at your athena prompt, where printername is the name of the printer you
will be using. This should be done BEFORE you start up Tecplot. If you
haven't done this, you can save your work, exit Tecplot, set the PRINTER
variable, and then restart Tecplot. Otherwise, your print outs will go
to the default cluster printer, if it is set.

All existing Tecplot windows are printed by default. You can keep a
window from being printed by choosing "NoPrint" under
/Window/Format/PrintOnOff for a particular window.

To print the plot on your screen, go to the menu /File/Print. For most
plots you won't need to change anything. If you want a landscape plot
instead of a portrait one, click on Paper, and choose Landscape. If you
want to print to a file instead of to a printer, click on RouteTo and
specify a filename. To change it back, specify "SPOOL". Then click on
GoPrint.

This will bring you to another menu, where you can specify the location
and orientation of your plot on the paper. You can change the
orientation by going to Orientation and using the mouse and you can
change the size by going to Scale/Relative and enter a number to specify
a relative scale number (greater than 1 will make the plot bigger,
between 0 and 1 will make it smaller). When the plot is placed where
you want it, click GoPrint again, and it will be put in the file, or
sent to the printer. If you send it to the printer more than once, you
may see the message

File Exists, Overwrite?

You can click on Yes without worrying about losing any of your work.
This happens because Tecplot does not delete the temporary file it uses
to send to the printer from the /tmp directory on your workstation.

More information on printing can be found in Chapter 25 of the Tecplot
manual.
