Opening PDF files with Acrobat Reader from Mozilla

Making Mozilla open PDF files automatically

When you click on a link to a PDF file, Mozilla should open that file
automatically with Acrobat Reader. If it does not, you can follow the
instructions here to change that behavior:

1) In Mozilla, choose "Preferences" from the "Edit" menu.

2) Click the triangle next to "Navigator" in the "Category" pane of the
   "Preferences" window.

3) In the sub-tree of "Navigator", click on "Helper Applications".

4) In the "File Types:" box on the right, select "application/pdf" and
   click the "Edit" button.

5) In the new window that appears, choose the "Open it with" radio
button, and in the box next to that, type:

   /mit/acro/arch/@sys/bin/acroread

6) Click "OK" to close the small window, then "OK" again to close the
   Preferences window.

Mozilla is now set up to view PDf files with Acrobat Reader. Note on
slower machines it may take a minute or two for Acrobat Reader to start
after clicking on a PDF file. Please be patient.

You may also specify a different PDF viewer if you wish, however please
note that any lockers it requires must be attached manually. Mozilla
automatically attaches the "acro" locker for you.
