What BROWSERS are available on Athena?

The following is a list of current browsers supported on Athena.
Please note that newer versions of these browsers continue to
come out regularly; thus, this list may not be completely
up-to-date.  For the most up-to-date information, check out the
following URL:

   http://web.mit.edu/cwis/software/

1. The newest version of Netscape is available on all Athena    
   workstations. Type:

   add infoagents
   netscape &

   The default version in the infoagents locker is Netscape
   4.05.  For more information on Netscape Communicator on
   Athena and for some issues related to moving from Netscape
   3.01 to 4.05, see:

   http://web.mit.edu/infoagents/www/netscape/

   Other versions, from 1.12 to 4.05, are also available
   in infoagents (for a complete list type "add infoagents; ls
   /mit/infoagents/netscape*".  The outland locker frequently
   has a newer release of netscape as:

   add outland
   netscape-beta &	

2. Lynx is a text-based browser, available on all Athena
   workstations, which can be used over dialup. To access it,
   type:
 
   add infoagents
   lynx

   The current version in the infoagents locker is lynx 2.7.1;
   other versions available range from 2.4 to 2.6.  Lynx 2.8 is
   not yet available on athena.

3. Mosaic is available on all Athena workstations. Simply type:

   add sipb
   Mosaic &

   Mosaic is no longer under development; the last relase,
   2.7b5, is in the sipb locker.  Mosaic 2.4 is available in the
   infoagents locker.

4. HotJava 1.0 is currently available on Suns only. Simply type:

   add outland
   hotjava &


5. Netscape Gold, an HTML editor and browser, is available in the
   outland locker:
 
   add outland
   netscape-gold &

6. Amaya, another HTML editor/browser, specifically designed for
   experimenting with new specifications and Web standard
   extensions, is available in the outland locker:

   add outland
   amaya &	
   
7. Internet Explorer is available for the Sun, also from the
   outland locker. To run it, use the commands:

   add outland
   iexplorer &
